    E exaust fit a M42?

Hey I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to fit a 325e's cat and muffler onto a 91 318 exaust system? My 318i is having issues with the muffler and I have a spare E exaust, so I thought it might be possible. They are both single pipe and I did not know what the difference in cats or mufflers were on the two vehicles. Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks!

If the diameter is close you could probably just take it to any muffler shop and have it cut and welded in. I'd think the exhaust systems should be a similar shape.

Alternatively you can get a replacement muffler pretty cheap. I paid $70 for mine and another $70 for a universal cat. Then about $80 to have it all welded in. Sounds great!

It's not going to bolt up, the m42 downpipe flange is way different than the m20's. Any muffler shop would probably only charge around $50 to mate the 2 together though.
