    o2

ive got an 85 325e m20 turbo, and i went to Advanced auto to replace my o2 sensor that has been bad for a while now. however i have a few ?'s. 1, they wanted $125 and ive never paid that much for an 02. is that normal? 2. i am right now running an open loop and its running rich but not too bad considering. ive heard of people running open loop 02 all the time. my ? is if i order a war chip to tune my car, will it work properly if im running open loop???

That, or a bit more, is the going price for an O2 sensor for a BMW. I know that you can set up an MS to run properly open loop. I don't know if that is feasible with the BME engine management system and WAR chip.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I know the M42 can use an o2 sensor from a 94 or so ford mustang GT. Perhaps there is a similar crossover part available for the m20 eta. If you can find out the part number of the o2 sensor you need (like a bosch number, not BMW) maybe you can find a cheaper (but equivalent) replacement. Keep surfing the forums, I'm sure someone's found a cheaper o2 sensor that will work.

ya i was looking into a MS but they are so damn expensive considering that i have to get a wideband, which i need anyways, an intake temp sensor, he says i need a new tps, i need a fpr, installation, dyno time with tuning. its gonna be damn expensive!! plus i need to replace all my couplers because i keep blowing couplers off of my IC plus it has a diverter valve right now and i dont want it anymore, so i need a bov! ugghhh
i know people dont really like them, but would a safc neo be a plausible replacement for a war chip???

I used an 02 sensor from an early 90's Ford Econoline v8 van. It was 4 wires, same colors as the M20 stocker. Chopped off the ford connector, spliced em up and it works like a champ. Cost $48 bucks

I use the '95 Dodge Intrepid sensor for any four wire replacement. Runs about $40 and has worked every time.

What are you using for engine management on this turbocharged engine? Stock computer?

I got mine from www.fap99.com for like 70 bucks or something.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
                  Mark: "You never will."
