    SOLID E to I article

The article on Fred's site by that other guy is somewhat patchy. There were a few on E3S that were good write ups. Aritcles pertaining as to what parts from the E could coincide with the newly placed i engine.

I am looking for something similar, and that is swapping an entire 89 325i drivetrain into my 86 325.

it looks pretty straightforward, the electrical does not seem that bad, however a guide would be nice for small things I am not yet aware of..

How can you not afford it? You have just about everything you need, save a few parts you wil need to buy during the install.

There are lots of ways this can be done and it was the hottest thing back in the day. It just seems to be gaining popularity all over again these days due to the internet. Bear in mind more people would rather go for an m50,m52 or S50,S52. The same with the m30 swap into the e30 chassis.

Anywhoo, there are lots of ways this can be done such as staying at stock CR and doing a straight swap if you are on a budget, going with higher compression pistons with a subtle over-bore, staying with the stock crank or going with a td crank etc.

Projects of this nature are entirely based on what you want out of it. Simply ask question pertaining to components matching with your desired hybrid and you are good to go.

Prices paid for used engines and components vary. Prices of pistons, rods etc are pretty much obtainable from online shops.

Super Eta = Hybrid motor builders manna

Yes I know that the m50/s50 s52 swaps are much more popular. But here's my issue I have an 86 325 I can acquire and I have a m20 b25 just sitting on blocks figured I could make a quick buck on the swap. I need to know what parts I will need besides the i engine for the swap. Such as will the power steering pump work? What's the deal with the wiring harness? Is the Alternator going to work? The starter? All those goods things my lads

In your case, oil journals will have to be drilled if you want to put the i head on. Wiring harness connector is different, its not a plug and play scenario. Power steering pump, alternator, starter will work. Fred's site should be able to cater towards your needs as I see it. I have not read it in a while but I'd say he's the one you might want to try and contact...note that he might not respond as fast as you would want him to. You might want to try pick up a Bentley Manual and try get the ETK software. Those two help a lot for parts comparison and some issues with wiring etc
