Could having a small radiator leak cause coolant to escape through the little breather hose, the open-ended one?

Sorry, I mean the hose going down from the coolant expansion tank. I don't know if having a coolant leak on the radiator causes extra pressure to build up in the expansion tank and vent extra amounts of coolant. I am trying to figure out if these wet spots are normal.Originally posted by DarkWing6uhh......english?

No...Originally posted by kowalskiif you over filled the coolen then its going to leak if thats what your asking? you should get some steel braided lines to go with the whole new suspension you got going on there. how much did that cost?
I did get SS lines, the line you are looking at in the pic ain't the brake line. It's the ABS sensor line.
A lot...seriously.Comment

i used to empty my coolant reservoir quickly until i replaced my coolant cap and a hose or two. basically the cap wasn't holding the pressure and vented all my coolant out the street.
also the reservoirs get old and don't seal properly. at least on my s14James

maybe you just over filled it ? just fill it to the line and make sure the excess is already in your expansion tank.Comment

you sure theres no holes or cracks in the hoses? .....run it till it gets warm and squeeze the hoses. Try to follow the leak and see if its moist elsewhere. That area might just be the end up but not the area of source.Comment

yoru gasket probably didn't sit tight, you should just use silicon gaskets to seal it.Comment

If there is a leak in the system you will lose pressure. Common sense. If you are dumping out the vent hose you have a bad cap, overfilled it, overheated, etc.Adam Fogg- '88 M3
