Paint to use on brake rotors centers?

I'm guessing high temp shit. I just remembered I'd be a good idea to hit up those centers with some paint to avoid rust and keep the wheels from sticking to the brakes, etc.

What paint? (and should I hit up the inside portion as well, to keep it from sticking to the hub, or just use something like anti-sieze on the hub face?)

I used VHT Brake Caliper, Drum & Rotor paint. Worked real well.

engine enamle will work anything higher temp rating then that iwll also work. also base/clear with self etching primer will work too. or the caliper paint but make sure to clean off with a alchahole based degreaser first so that it evaporates after.

I used VHT brake paint on my rotors. This was back in Nov 04. Still every bit as good looking, if not for some brake dust in the vents.

Mmmm, tasty Jordan. Did you cover the vents to avoid painting down them, or does it matter?

I'd imagine wrapping around them would simple if yes.

I sprayed all down inside the vents... helps prevent unsightly rust.

and truth be told, I didn't waste time masking the friction surface. I sprayed the rotor as needed. Obviously I didn't get any more on the friction surface then I needed to, but no harm is done.

The paint comes off on the first couple stops, and after a day or so will be completely gone.

Good to know about painting down in the vents, I was wondering about that for when I do mine.

                  Thanks Jordan!

(btw, I'm so painting my old rotors gold (or green/pink) and mounting them to piss everyone off) Then turn them to get them clean again.

Should I do this to mine? There is ALL KINDS of rust in and around my calipers...my rotors are pretty ugly too.

                    :(

Maybe it is just time for new ones?

*sigh* there is just so much that needs to be done to my car.

This link you can create your own decals and they have decals specific to bake calipers and I am ordering some BMW decals for my rotors. The thing is I dont know about whether or not to paint my calipers black or red, do you guys and girls think that red is too ricey for a BMW?

I would want to paint mine black, to match my car...

Calipers look SOO hot in the body color!!

Rob, you should go for what's in that pink rattle can!

                          ;)

Body color calipers for me = no no, red stock calipers = Boo. But my rotors are going black just because that's all that was available tonight at 10:30 ;)

Kristin, you should go with PINK, it'd match your INTERIOR color.

vht caliper paint is just about the best bang for the buck from a rattle can. i really love g2 caliper paint. 1 set was enough for me to do all 4 calipers and rotors. i've used this stuff on 3 different cars. when i clean things up the paint looks just like it did when i first did it 4 years ago on my dsm. i was waiting for the caliper rebuild kits when i took the pic, if you're wondering why there's a glove zip-tied to the line.

before anyone jumps to the conclusion that the rotors are mounted on the wrong side, they are straight vaned.
