Take the top off my car? I am getting a new soft top with the frame and everything so I want to take the one which is currently on my car and just put the new set up on.


How hard is this? and how the hell do I go out doing this?

It is not that hard. There are a few bolts that hold the base of the hinge mechanism in place. I did this a little over a year ago and it was about an hour job. I got a top that had been newly replaced on a car right before the owner totalled it. I'm kicking myself for not buying his hardtop too.

I think there are four bolts on each side. I can't recall, but I think they are 13mm. The toughest part was getting the spacers and shims back in place to make sure the new top lined up properly.

Once you get the new top, it is easy to see where you need to look for the bolts on the old one.

Yes, please do. I don't really need it because I don't drive the cabby in the winter, but it would have been nice to have the option.
