What is an absorber? (fuel system)

The one on my car is completely trashed from rust. It looks like a FPR, if it isnt one..what is it, what does it do and is it needed?

If it is a FPR, what PSI are they set for

That is an obsolete part. Remove it and replace with a longer section of line.
