Coolant smell when heater is on?

is the heater core going bad?
or could this be because the recall was never done on it?

Heater core, valve, or piping. Certainly in the interior.

    Have fun.

        Yep, either one of those.

I just replaced my heater core and valve, have fun, and prepare to have a small waterfall inside your footwell when you get it out

No think about it. unless u release the all the pressure from the collant hose even that am not sure. cause the is always some sort of coolant in the heater core.

Draining the coolant makes less of a spill, but the heater core and valve do not drain. They will retain any coolant they have in them.

All they're going to do is install a bypass valve and install a new rad cap which is why it'll only take an hour. They're not going to replace the heater core or valve which is your problem.
