I think the spring in the door lock is worn out. I can lock it when the doors closed but when its open I cant push the door lock down and when i try to lock it from the outside the key just turns but I can open it from the outside. Can I fix it with a repair kit?

Most people either replace the drivers cylinder or use the trunk to lock and unlock the car. I have a replacement drivers lock if you want to repair yours or I also have a full set of good working locks all keyed the same FS as well. Sounds like you need to take a road trip to Heber! The difference between porcupines and BMWs is that porcupines have the pricks on the outside!

The best solution is to buy the updated repair kit. It includes an assortment of lock wafers to match your existing keys.

If you buy a used lock cylinder, make certain that it's the updated design with a roller instead of the original design with a ball. Most that you will find for sale are the old, flawed design and have the same problem.

The key profiles should be the same. Only the cuts differ.
Each wafer has a depth number stamped on it. You can read the key code by removing the wafers in order.
An advantage of buying a new lock kit is that it comes with a full assortment of new wafers -- enough to do two locks unless your key has a often-repeated cut.
BTW, the trunk lock cylinders is one of the easiest to remove. The door is a pain because you have to remove the door panel and the visibility is poor. The ignition cylinder should be trivial, but I don't have the touch. (Plus you only get seven of the 11 cut codes from the ignition.)
