Weird Sound coming from back left.

Ok, I'm not sure what it is, the harder I pull off, the worse it is, It sort of feels like the wheel is sticking, or shuddering, or even jumping a few times. I've looked under the car, and from what I can see, I'm almost sure it's got something to do with the drive of the wheel, it's not the wheel, or the hub or anything. So I'm thinking, it is either the Diff, or the drive shaft ? I haven't looked under the CV boot, but all I can say is it is still the original. I'm guessing it might be the CV ?

Sounds like a bad CV or wheel bearing to me. Jack the rear up and rotate the wheel by had. See if you feel any "grinding" as the wheel is turning. If so, it's probably a bearing. If the wheel will rotate forward or backward significantly before the CV/axle begins to move (a lot of take-up) it's probably a CV. If neither of those tests turn up anything it could still be a CV. I've had to change them before even when they seemed to still be good. It's really hard for you to load them by hand and feel anything substantial unless they're really, really, really shot. Just my .02...

It is probably the drive shaft center support bearing. that is the most commen problem. you will feel a strong thumping sound coming from what sounds like the back of the car. it only happens when you take off, or at least that is what mine did, and stops once you get going I is a simple job to replace but you will have to remove your exhaust. another thing to replace is the flex disc at the rear for the trasmition, it is another easy thing to do and will mostlikly need to be replaced. Another thing it could be is if you are having the problem when you are moving and it starts making noise, see http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/vie...ng&t=18452

If your wheel bearing is bad, it should be more of a continious problem, not just under acceleration. One way to check is to swerve your car both ways (you dont need too much speed) and listen if the noise comes and goes.

Its most likely the driveshaft center support though, although when mine went out, I felt jolts as if they were next to me, but this was probably because my driveshaft was about to fall off. Good luck.

It just happens when pulling off, the harder I launch the car, or pull off the louder, and worse the shuddering is

                Nah, it's not the clutch.

I'm wondering could it be that rubber joint, on the prop shaft? haven't really checked mine out (can't remeber the name) I know it seems to break quite often?

The 2 mentioned by CrazyH are the only rubber pieces associated with the drive shaft.

In my experience, a bad flex disc ("guibo") causes clunking only on shifting, into any gear, and it's not localized on the left side. You can see if it needs to be replaced by looking for cracks in it. Even if it looks good, you may want to go ahead and replace it($30-$40) if you take the drive shaft loose to replace the CSB. A bad U-joint in the drive shaft can be a source of vibration too.

Thanks alot, I got under the car, and chucked off the exhaust, and I could see it was the centre support bearing, it was knocked out of round. So I got a new one, and also that other part u were talking about. Also a few other washers and things.

Thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated
