    a/c not workng?

Today, i went to use my a/c and i turned it on and the air temp never changed. usually when i turn it on it puts a big load on the engine and kills gas mileage. Now when i turn it on it hardly makes a difference, although at idle you can hear a small change but nothing like before. Why is this? I use my a/c in traffic on really hot days or when its raining.

This could be any of a number of things. But at the top of the list would that the system is low on freon.

Find & fix the leaks, then recharge.

Not to hijack, but fixing the leaks generally requires decompressing the a/c lines, right?

I have one right at the compressor that connects to the hose with the blue nozzle on it, I think.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
              Mark: "You never will."
