    Oil Pan Gasket sealant? plz help

    Is it necessary on an m20 oil pan? I didn't see an answer on search so figured i would just ask. thanks

    slather a little orange RTV on there and your good to go, not necessary but why not

      Yup best way to go usually, unless you plan to T O T A L L Y clean off the old gasket which is a pain, cause if you don't scrape and clean it good just gonna leak. I do it for the water pump too, on mine and mostly all cars i work on.

        I scraped the surface, then used Halomar HPF to seal. 3 months, no leaks.

          Silicon sealent and 12 months later..... not a drop of oil has leaked.
