no smog here. too many old farm trucks and stuff around here to worry about bringing them back to standards.

keep your old cat/downpipe section and have a set fabbed up for you to swap out when smog time comes, that's what I've got. I actually have a 2-1 downpipe to single flange and back to a stock muffler, it's easy as hell to remove. I had plans of slapping a turbo into the car so I had it made as a 2-1-2, so I could easily make a single downpipe.
it sounds a lot 'burblier' at idle to ~2500rpm, although I wasn't going for a change in sound at all
I don't think it's really worth it unless you can do it yourself for little to no cost

There is NO NEED to run around without a catalytic converter.

If you want a better exhaust note, save up for a new muffler.
If you want performace, then buy a high-flow cat and have that welded in.
I agree. Ever run your car with no exhaust? And I mean straight out of the cat? If you think that your car is loud, you've got to try that. I have sound clips available w/video of my eta with no exhaust. Unless your racing, might as well leave the cat on, or just replace it with a catco. They are awesome, and i am fully against smog in my state, but I will put a catco on anything.

Well i pretty much finished it this weekend, i have to say that i am very pleased with it. My car sounds so great, isn't that much louder inside unless you step on it, but outside it is a world of difference. I can feel it pulling stronger in the higer rpm's too. Well for the 50 bucks and a day.
