need help with bike roof rack

hey so i recently got a yakima roof rack. and it came with some gear to use for bikes. but i have no idea how to set it up properly to work. i have a feeling i might have figured it out but my bike just doesnt fit on the front peice or something. hopefully you can see from these pics what im missing and help me out.
