    Fuel Leak

hey ive got a fuel leak somewhere around the fuel filter on my 88 325i. its not a huge leak but its definitely leaking quite a bit. i ordered the rubber hoses for the fuel filter and a new filter. I realized i havent changed the fuel filter in about 6 years...yea i know. Does it sound like this could be the cause? my fuel gauge also doesnt work because of the fuel level senders. When i fill my tank all the way, it would smell like gas inside. But now ive got this leak, and im fairly convinced its the rubber lines around the filter. What do you guys think? I always see it dripping from that little black cover with the 10mm nuts on it.

If you smell gas when you fill the tank all the way there's probably a leak at the level sensor on the left side or the sensor/pump on the right side. But it could also be from any of the lines that run across the top of the tank or the filler hose. If the tank is dry above where the filter lives, the filter hoses or fuel return connections are suspects.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

So are you saying it's probably the fuel level sender hoses?

I had massive fuel leak problems. Ended up with replacing the tank, filter and all the piping.

Approximately 200USD spent in total, but I'm happy with the result.
