    Won't f--king start!!!!!!

I finished my t-belt and water pump on Sunday. After I was done, I tried to start it - the car was dead. (It has been sitting in the garage for over a month without starting). No sign of any electricity - no fuel pump hum - nothing even thinks about lighting up/

I had NOT disconnected the battery before I parked it last, so I assumed it had trickled out.

I removed the battery this evening and hooked it up to a charger - VOILA - it says the battery is fine. Fully charged. To be on the safe side, I tested it with my neighbors equipment - same thing.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be the problem here? Any chance something I did in the T-Belt install mucked it up?

If more info is needed, I'd be glad to provide it.

Are the battery terminals clean and tight? If they are corroded, the car may not be getting power.

Also, did you check your battery ground strap on the engine? IF that is disconnected, the car will not start.

Other then that, check the cables running from the battery to the front of the car. Maybe there is somthing loose/corroded.

Well- I have a cabby - so the battery is up front. The cables look okay. Where is the battery ground strap on the engine?

are your relays making a clicking sound, the main engine ones? and on some cars there is a main fuse too, i duno when they started or stopped putting those in tho.. check your relays clean the contacts, maybe even buy new ones...:) and that will probbly solve you problem. or it could be in your ignition, use a multi meter on your relay plugs to see if your getting volts, and if you arn't then it oculd be igntion. somone please clarify if there is a main fuse.

          No clicks - nothing.

Check your distributor and check if the timing is right. If the order is wrong on the cap to the plugs = no start.

And that would stop all electricity form running in the car - no lights, no door gong, nothing?

I'll look at that again, but I don't think that is it.

If you dont have anything, there is something wrong with your battery/connection.

But a volt meter across the terminals. Should be around 12.5V.

I'm with this guy. The same thing happened to one of my e30s. It would not start... no lights, nothing. I swapped in the battery from my other e30, and still nothing. It turns out the bettery terminals were too corroded. Replaced the terminals and starts up fined ever since.

The ground strap is underneith the front of the engine on the driver side. It bolts to the subframe and then onto the oil pan I believe. You should see it. It's a big coper wire bolted to the engine and frame.

                      Plain and simple.

If you have no electrical power whatsoever, then that is your problem. Don't worry about engine mechanics, ecu, or anything else.

It was the battery after all. It was showing 12.5v and neither my charger nor my neighbor's would charge it any as they both thought it was fully charged.

Took it to the Autozone and had them load test it - it was shot. They gave me a new one.
