    Idle bouncing

Tonight I go out to start the car (after I drove it for a while today) and the check engine light comes on and the idle surges from about 1250rpm up to 2000 and then falls to 1250, goes back up, etc. Also when you give it gas or let off the gas, it jerks funny. I called Alex Shchipkov and he said maybe the air temp differences (65 today, 35 at night) made the computer think funny. I went and drove around for 10-15 minutes after the car warmed up. Took her up to 6000rpm in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear, and went into 4th and 5th. Problem is still there. Also, when you use cruise control it jerks when it adjusts throttle to keep speed constant. I am goin to Alex's on Saturday to check the engine code. Any ideas? I think AFM or ICV. Btw, car is a '91 325i.

I think AFM or ICV are good things to check.

Happened on my car. It was the ICV.

Where is the ICV located? How hard is it to replace?

Very simple. Two clamps, one double wire connection.
It is located past the AFM on your car.
If you buy a new one, lift the hood , look down right past the AFM, match the part. It will be very obvious.
Or you could buy a Bentley. Good luck--Steve
