    Further thoughts: AC evaporator insulation

Jlevie has persuaded me and I'm taking my evaporator out. I'll be sure to send him an explosive thank you note when I have a moment, but that's not the point of this post. When I removed everything, the evil white tape and the very, very disintegrated foam that are supposed to shield the side of the evaporator came off and they are not, clearly, going back on. My question is as follows: could I use spray foam to reshield the area? I'd need something closed-cell and relatively low expansion, but are there any obvious negatives that I'm overlooking?

I think that would work. The difficult part might be getting the shape correct. I think I'd try shaping styrofoam to fit.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I was thinking of putting the cap on, spraying and letting the foam.. shape itself: http://www.evercoat.com/productDetail.aspx?pID=24, spray fairly generously, let if expand... no?
