85 318i is sopposed to come from tha factory with a rear....

Hi guys today while installing the exhuast on my 85 318i I noticed something. No rear sway bar. The 85 was supposed to come with one right? I gues I'll go stick one of my extra 325e one's on.

hum I'll have to go look at my 84 and see if it does. I thought all e30's had sway bars and the 318i's were just thinner.

The US M10 cars did not get a rear swaybar.

And the reason for no swaybar is....

BMW NA didn't want a car with that much power and torque-load to have a rear bar, which might promote oversteer. They assumed that with the M10, drivers would have "other means" of rotating the rear end.

You mean the drum brakes, which are better suited to ebrake maneuvers?

Yeah, mine didn't have one either. Slapped a 12mm bar in there and it helped with understeer though.

well that was an Easy mod. I just got back from the test drive with an 84 325e sway bar in the rear and it corners a lot better and handels more responsively. I love Easy mods.
