    mainfan stopped working

    Yes i know about the search but i cant from my phone. my fan stopped working as i checked this morning. dont know if ther is something to check and whats the quickest and easiest fix if its the clutch.. its an 87 325i vert. thanks... had a cel so thats why i pulled over and checked..

    If you mean the engine driving cooling fan, then the clutch has probably failed. Replacement of same isn't a big job. I'd say, given where the car is, to deal with this immediately. W/o the fan the engine will tend to overheat when idling or in stop and go traffic.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Ok. My car right now is at a friends house. I was thinking of just wiring in the ac fan directly so atleast i can make it Home. And do you think its better that i switch to electric or just replace the clutch. Thanks...

        The engine driven fan is a simple system that works really well as long as the car is properly maintained. The main causes of problems with the fan are bad motor mounts or a worn water pump. Keep up with maintenance and there won't be problems with the fan.

        It is possible to replace the engine driven fan with an electrical unit. But done properly that will cost quite a bit more than a replacement fan clutch.

        Yes, you can jumper the aux fan to run on high all the time to get the car home. Without the engine driven fan leave the A/C off.
