3 pedals in an automatic. who has done it?

I have an automatic. I also have full intentions of doing a manual swap. It will be a while until I can gather all the parts/buy a donor car but I was planning on doing some interior work. I figured that I might save some time/hassle down the road by installing the brake and clutch pedal for a 5spd right now. It would be incredibly weird to look at that and drive around like that, but I am wondering if anyone has done something similar :P

I also need to gather information about the return spring for the clutch since I saw a thread a month ago where someone was having issue with an older pedal box in a newer e30 or something along those lines.

just wait and do the whole swap. Also, just so you know, the pedals were the hardest part of the swap for me.
    Owned lots of E30's

Did you change the pedal box out or just the pedals?

I will be removing the dashboard for other reasons which is why I was considering doing the pedal box at the same time. Wouldn't it be easier to replace the pedals with the dash removed?

Changing just the pedals out isn't too bad, changing the box out is.

Auto boxes don't have the clutch spring setup but you don't really need it. You could switch the box out while you have the dash out and put the auto pedals back and switch out later or leave the stick pedals and leave the clutch master out or at least plug the line.

Changing things out when the dash is out is lots easier than doing so while the dash is in place. I can think of no reason not to go ahead and get it done while the dash is out. For a week or so I had three pedals in an E30 while I waited on shop time to finish the 5-speed swap and it was okay.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

You can change your pedals, then just push the clutch to the floor and it will stay there, now you wont hit it insted of the brake pedal.

Go for it, if it makes it a tad bit easier than I don't see any reason not to. On the other hand, if this car is a non airbag car it is is really not a big deal to drop the box out and get a new one in there. And if it is an airbag car, it is still not the hardest thing in the world.

I did this in my vert and its been that way for months. The manual went in my coupe and I'm too lazy to remove pedals

If its an airbag car, it really doesn't matter either way. Whoever said the pedals were the hardest part of the swap....yeah...

It took me 10 minutes with the full interior in. TOPS.
