    Check oil capacity *on the compressor itself*. That will be total oil capacity though: it is recommended to take everything apart, flush evaporator and condenser, then add oil in the compressor in the correct amount.

    thats seems like quite a bit of oil.
    but I guess it would depend on what series bmw it is.
    I would have to look ,but I thought an early e30 took
    like 2-3 oz's and 33 oz of freon.

    I am retrofitting and I drained my compressor. My bentley says the system total capacity is 300cc or 10.14 ounces. How much oil would I add if just replacing the compressor?
