a/c help- recirc door attachment broke? How to fix?

The recirculator door that is above the expansion valve is broke. Actually, the rod to the recirc motor is no longer attached to the door. It will not pull the door shut. What is the best way to get too this? Do I remove the blower motor in the engine compartment? Thanks.

If we are talking about the one behind the radio, I HIGHLY recommend pulling the dash.

Yep, the motor seems to be behind the radio off to the right. The other door motor is off to the left. But the rod extends pretty deep into the dash. I can see the lower motor, while twisting to look up under there. So, If I remove the blower motor, which seems easier than removing the dash, won't I be right there? Removing the dash sounds friggin scary. Please tell me it is not that bad.

for most newbs, I would say 2 hours off, 3 hours on.

Take pics, it helps locate crap later.

But why not remove the blower motor instead? Seems quicker.

I don't see how you can get to it from the firewall side.....

As Jean showed (Jean, when you moving to Seattle?) pulling the blower motor (which is also a bitch) will not get you to the recirc flaps.

The bentley says in order to remove the fan housing you to unlcip the recirculator rod from the flap. That is why I figured I could get at it from there. I sure as hell don't want to remove the dash. I was hoping to just epoxy it.

You talkin to me? (said with Robert DiNiro accent) I will take a look at it sometime this week. I have no intention on pulling the dash for this. But, if I did, can I purchase new flap doors for the recirc? Thanks
