odd problem

my car runs and starts fine, but when i get on the highway and go to get over 70 mph the car backfires, the check engine light comes on and the car drops speed. It will constantly do this.
can anyone help here

Have you had the code read? That will probably shed some light on the situation...

I second that advice. Check for codes. Probably something with fueling.
