    window crank tool

    Hey y'all,

Just bought a '91 325i and am a bit paranoid of having my power windows/sun roof fail and not be able to close them (I live in Vancouver, B.C. : rain capital of the world). I've heard there's a bmw tool that you can use to manually close your windows/sunroof if the electronics fail.

Can anybody tell me/show me how it looks like and how it works? I have the means to get one so I want to make sure I know how it works before I get it.

The emergency crank is just a metric allen. Pop a cover off and match up the allen size and put that tool in the trunk kit.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Yeah I heard it was an allen key but I wanted to make sure since I can just throw one of those in my kit. Thanks!

Wasn't this manual option with the allen key only available on early model cars?
I'm pretty sure my late model sedan does not have any place on the motor to crank with an allen key.

If I were you, I would pop the cover off and make sure the allen hole isn't stripped. My passenger side motor died and the hole was stripped.

I ended up dremeling a slot and using a massive screwdriver to lower it enough to be able to change out the motor.

What year is your e30? I can find anything resembling a bolt cover near my sunroof or door :(

Only if your power windows fail though, right?

I know this is an old post but new to me. Is there an access point in the cabriolet for rear window?
