    tranny noise

My tranny make a whining noise when its not in gear and the noise subsides when i press the clutch. Do I need a new tranny? And now I cant get it into second and fourth pops out of gear when I let off the gas???

It could be your throw out bearing, if you depress clutch and goes away, but usually when throw out bearing fails, it starts to make cluncking noises from my experience.

Miles? Whining can be two things, snychros or throw bearing. From your description it sounds as though it's the throw out bearing. But the poping out of gear says it might be multiple things going on.

Does your car need new tranny mounts? Is your linkage worn out?

Generally the throw out bearing makes noise when you press the clutch, so most likely it's not that.

i had the fluid changed on my car at 170k on the clock. it started after i canged the oil pan due to a pothole. my father thinks its the bearing too. but 2nd started going first then 4th was next (to bottom gears???). i dont know shit when it comes to trannys for all i know there are gnomes in my gears.

Your synchros might be getting worn if it pops out of gear. Throw out bearing in more of a chattering noise, not whining. Mine's been chattering for 15k.

input shaft bearing can whine and rattle and chatter when the clutch is engaged, mine does. It's too expensive to fix it. If I were you, especially since you have multiple problems, is go to a junkyard and pull a tranny off of the lowest mileage car you can and swap 'em.
