How much exhaust deformation is normal?

My exhaust appears to be growing half an inch longer when it's hot, which is causing clearance issues with the rear valence. Fixing it is no big deal, but I'm kind of concerned that I'm missing something.

I don't think that's out of the ordinary to have an exhaust grow lengthwise. That's why race systems have the beehive springs and clamps to hold everything together after the collector, I think--to allow for expansion at a thermally challenging location.

And I have ceramic muffler bearings. Stop electrostatic discharge erosion.

It's really the half inch plus part that surprised me. I thought that I had cleared it pretty generously. Oh well. I guess I get to take it down and cut half an inch out.
