    Car died @ 80 and won't start

Cruising @ 80 on the 101 and then the car just decelerated and shut off while I pulled off to the shoulder.

I have spark, I can't hear the fuel pump priming, I just replaced the Main Relay a month ago from an earlier no-start issue and after the new relay it started perfect until today when it just gave up mid drive.

Replaced the clogged fuel filter, still no fire, disconnected the line from the fuel-in side of the filter and cranked no fuel pumped out, jumped the fuel pump relay and repeated, still no fuel pumping out so...gotta be my fuel pump right? clogged or broken?

Any other testing I should do before diving into the tank?

Smack the top of the fuel pump to see if that'll do anything. When my fuel pump was on its way out, I removed the rear seat bottom and hit the fuel pump a few times. It got me home til I had the chance to replace it with a new one.

I've heard that keeping your tank above the 1/4 level will help ensure the fuel pump is properly lubricated.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
              Mark: "You never will."

Yea I fill up on premium as soon as the light comes on because my gas gauge is fuckin crazy.

Fuel pump fixed it, I also swapped in a different VDO sender which seems to have not done anything for my motometer gas gauge.

Running your fuel low will also cause the pump to run hot as the fuel also cools the pump.

If the pump runs hot, it will have a shorter life.

Keep 1/3rd of a tank of gas or more at all times if possible.

Don't constantly run it low on fuel as it is hard on the pump and might clog the screen.

That's old skool stuff, like jump starting a car by pulling them close together so the metal bumpers would touch and create a common ground, and then connecting the positive battery terminals with a tire iron or two.

Yeah, we did shit like that back in the day and it worked.

Yea like I said majority of this cars life is spent with more than 1/4 tank (as in, more than 3/4 of its life see what I did thar)

Also the screen from the pump I put in was 90% clear and the one I took out was 85% clear, so with the new gunk-free filter this pump should last me a good bit.
