Registration and ID. I think you have to do it in person because the keys come from Germany, I don't think each dealer has a key cutting machine. Or you can go to a Home Depot or some other hardware store or lock smith and get a crappy tin key, I have one and the torque from locking the door is twisting the key shaft, still works but I hope it doesn't break in the ignition one day.sigpic

Just go up to the stealership and present your registration. They take down your VIN and in about two weeks you have your key. That's all I needed to do here in NC.Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
Mark: "You never will."

I ordered a blank for my e30 from eBay. The blank had "Germany" embossed in the metal, but it was shipped from Taiwan. Hummmmm.
Anyway, the locksmith who cut it for me said it was not the real deal, as they are stainless and hard to cut. This one was chrome over brass, and cut easy.---

Its an actual OEM key with the light & everything.
I will have to go to the Dealer to see if they can cut it out for me.
This sucks...
