    Possible Causes.

What other reason than low oil could an oil light have to come on? Even after using the ol' paper clip rester method which worked on keeping the Inspection light off?

Dying batteries in the SI board. I dont know if the paper clip method resets both, or just one at a time. Might need to do it separately for oil.

Which oil light? There are 3 "oil lights" on any car with a check panel. If you are talking about the SI lights that has nothing to do with oil level.

low oil pressure, or a dying switch will cause that light to come on.

low oil pressure or bad switch. Light is triggered by lack of oil pressure, removing lead from the switch "should" turn it off, if there isnt a short in the wire. If the light goes out, check oil pressure in the motor, and if good, get a new pressure switch.

If it isn't a bad sensor/switch/wire, your pan gasket might have shifted :???:

When is the last time you dropped your pan in search of loose bolts?
