    Wheel hop

I just installed the Miller induction kit and did a launch tonight.. Burnt out all the way through 1st but I had a bit of wheel hop.. Not cool.

I used to have a lot of wheel hope due to bent up rear suspension, but I've since replaced the rear subframe and trailing arms along with poly 75D subframe and trailing arm bushings and haven't had any wheel hop until now.. (I guess because of more power??)

What are the main causes for wheel hop on e30's? I read it has to do with gaining and losing traction quickly.. So in that case would new tires help me out here? Mine are pretty shot... I'm also on stock springs/shocks that sits pretty damn high if that makes any difference.. And I have a pretty worn rear left drive axle that I am replacing in the next couple days, again could that somehow contribute if the joints are binding at all?

Just throwing this out there, but I tightened the shit out of the trailing arm bushings.. Could that cause or contribute to wheel hop? I ask because I read another thread about wheel hop and a few people just kept saying trailing arm bushing without any explanation, and now that I think about it I wonder if I tightened mine too much.. They feel fine though.

Just looking for any info or to be pointed in the right direction.. Thanks.

Tires will help. Also, worn rear trailing arm bushings and subframe bushings would increase the rear end's flopping around, which contributes to wheel hop.

Not sure how you "tightened" the control arm bushings. If you mean the rear trailing arm bushings, tightening the shit out of them won't help if the bushings themselves are worn. Look into polyurethane bushings.

I thought this was going to be a "he hasn't shipped my stuff!" thread. Lol.

Yeah I meant trailing arms. Been looking at too many front end suspension components lately haha.

I replaced the whole rear end and used 75d polyurethane all on the trailing arms and subframe.. It's solid, other than the stock springs and shocks that is. I just tightened the shit out of the trailing arm bushings, I didn't look up the torque spec.. Was just throwing it out there, trying not to leave any details out..

What kind of RSM's do you have?

If you have new subframe & trailing arm bushings, the next likely cause of wheel hop will be weak springs or bad shocks.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I'm assuming RSM = rear shock mounts? I have the stock ones.. Haven't ever looked at them though.

Yeah I am on stock springs and shocks so that probably is the most likely cause.

I'm gonna be overhauling the front suspension soon and then soon after get some new springs/shocks.. While we're on the subject, what spring/shock combo do you guys like best?? I'm going for performance over looks but I don't want to be busting oil pans left and right.. Being able to drive around without having to worry about every damn bump and driveway is definitely how I like it.. Don't mind a rough ride though, I have no freaking carpet and am on 75d bushings so I think that says enough.

bilstein sports , koni sa or da, ast etc etc.. the lower you go the stiffer you need to be.

if you are into drag racing, many people say you need softer rear end and not stiffer.

1 1/2" - 2" drop is the max I want to go.. But are there stiff enough springs at that height to decrease body roll?

I want to get some coil overs but they are pretty pricey.. Just gonna go with some cheap springs for awhile. I'll look into those. thanks for the pointers, I appreciate it. Anyone else have any opinions or recommendations?

Wow, you can see more rubber on the inside due to the negative camber.

Back on track: I was going to say weak dampers as has been mentioned
