    welding inside car

any precautions to take when welding inside the car? I want to weld some plats to my door to fit speakers a little easier, i have plates which have threaded holes so I want to permanently attached it to the door. any thing I have to do to prevent fucking up the electrical system aside from disconnecting the battery?

All that you need do is to disconnect the battery ground or positive cable and position the welder's ground clamp close to where the welding will be done.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Millions of cars are welded on each year and no bodyshop in the world pulls the ECU.

Very true and I do the same. When a customer comes in and I weld on their car I dont disconnect anything but I have fried 1 DME and it was mine. Go figure huh. But German shops have this surge protector that they put on the + and - on the battery.
