Hey guys, I know there are alot of idle problems in the search but I need some serious help with my car. First off, 1990 325iC, M20 motor. Recently I came down with a case of high idle upon startup, it would idle at around 1500 rpms and then about 5-10 minutes, would drop to 1000, then eventually 800-900. This would only happen upon startup. I don't think I am an idiot when it comes to cars but I am not uncle pennybags and replacing part after part related to th idle will break my bank as I am only a "college kid". I just got a brand new idle control valve, nothing, same as before, racing up towards 2000rpms and onwards. I was thinking it could be the coolant temp switch, the one on the manifold with the blue connector. I checked the AFM's OHMS and they come within spec, the connector to the ICV has 12volts on ground and 10 with the center and one side but only around 4 on the other. I don't want to pay outrageous amounts on parts nor labor and I feel that if you could give me some assistance I could do the job on my own. If you have any clues on what could be the ailment, I swear you would make my day. Thank-you for your time and patience in reading this, hope you can help me out

Free stuff to try
1)Reset the ECU
2)Look for vacuum leaks (by hand or with propane, your choice)
3)Check all key connectors (Coolant temp sensor/switch, Trottle Position Sensor, ICV connector)
4)Test the Coolant temp sensor/switch as per Bentley specs
5)You can also check the new ICV you got as per Bentley
If you don't have the Bentley, shame on you
There's lots of info about all this stuff around the site. If you can't find it just ask
