Bought new clutch kit, release bearing doesn't fit!

Well this just makes my day...
I've had so much progress on the "e" to "i" swap so far today, but I ran into this little doozie.
I bought a new Sachs clutch kit (clutch, plate, bearing), and I try to put the new bearing on the input shaft, but it won't make it over onto the sleeve. The inner diameter is too small, so it can only get over the splines, but no more.
It looks quite a bit different from the one that I pulled. Much smaller.
Is there something I'm missing here? Am I too noob? Or is this a genuine screw-up with the kit?

    Pissed off....

The one on the left is the new one.

I checked the part number on the box with the number on the Sachs website, and it matched up ok.

Yeah, it might help a little.

I'm probably just going to have to go to the dealer tommorow and bend over for a new bearing.

I'm sure you could find a bearing somewhere besides the dealer.

Well, I went and got one from the dealer today. About $100. I had to get it from the dealer because I am in a huge hurry to get this done.

But it's about 12:20, engine is installed. Everything is ready to fire up. But it wont start... Now I'll leave the rest for another post....

you're sure you bought the right clutch kit?
are you using an "i" tranny? is that an "e" clutch kit? or the other way around?

Using the "e" tranny, with an "i" flywheel and clutch kit.
