why batteries in front on cabrios?

I'm sure there has to be a reason why the bmw placed it there, but I cant really think of a reason why. Uneven weight distribution when the top is folded?

Only reason I ask is I want to relocate the batt to the rear but only if there is good reason to do it.

Installing an ultra light battery up front is frequently done in race cars. Less cable means less weight and less voltage drop. That said, I would not want a significant battery up front.

Likewise, the cabrios have the battery up front because the top adds a great deal of weight to the back. It's not a matter of whether the top is open or closed, there's just a lot more back there.

the top storage compartment in the rear already takes a significant amount of trunk space. moving the battery under the hood increases trunk space

there is actually a weight on the cabrios to keep the wight near to neutral where the battery would otherwise be.

I think the battery is in the back of a BMW simply for ease of jumping the car and hooking up an amplifier.
