    Generic ebay chips OK?

I have an M40 engine with a 157 ECU, so I can't get the more reliable brands such as Turner of MarkD since those are only for M20s.
I've found two on ebay for the 157 ECU:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-P...Q5fAccessories

    http://cgi.ebay.com/EURO-Performance...item5adce2b9fa

Just wondering if these are OK?

I purchased one from the seller in the bottom link for my E30. It works. There are more gains to be had on a m20 than the engine you have by using one of these chips so you might not notice the power gains I did.

    Good Luck.

I had an Ebay Pro Formance chip in my M42 when I got it. It actually worked pretty well, but the car ran really, really rich with it. Noticeably more midrange than stock, though.

I assume that meant much higher than usual gas consumption + the rich smell from the exhaust?
