you have a perfect reason to swap, since you already have the m52 anyway.... all the parts to do a m50/m52/s50/s52 swap are easily available, it's not like you have to source custom engine mounts or anything like that. start sourcing parts, makes no sense to spend money on m42.

Strange. My friends M42 did the same liquid piston trick.

Just driving it on the freeway and didnt notice it smoking since i was >60mph. I did notice some power lost so i exited. As I exited the freeway coming to a stop light, all my warning lights came on and then died. I dont exactly what caused it but the piston shows that it failed. The cylinder for the 3 piston was scratched up.

I guess the m52 sounds good, but now i need to find a needle in the hay stack for all the parts that I need.

Anyone have any of those parts?

But how did the thing manage to pull that off ..?

If you have the money and time do the 24v swap...replacing the m42 will be way simpler and cost less then going 24v though, even if you already have an m52.

You've got an M52 sitting around already. Even if the swap costs the same or slightly more than another gutless M42, seems to me your decision should be a very easy one my friend. :)
