    High temp engine paint?

Mods can move this to appearance or whatever, but I figured this one worked.

Looking for a high temp, good quality engine paint for my valve cover. Bright aluminum. Prefer 1500+ degrees. Anyone recommend any specific brands, where to buy? Thanks!

      VHT "cast aluminum"

      900ºF

Holding up just fine on my exhaust manifolds and downpipes.

Might be a stupid question, but I bought "Dupli-Color Engine Enamel" low gloss black paint (500ºF)...will that be fine?

To the best of my knowledge, 500 isn't durable enough to last. Better find something of a higher temp rating... :(

for a valve cover the dupli-color works. Ive used that on cars in the past and it turned out really nice. Your valve cover really shouldnt get hotter than that, if your painting an exhaust manifold or exhaust parts, then I would recommend the 1500 paint.[/img]

Thanks :D ! I should have mentioned I was using it for my valve cover, but oh well...sweet, I don't have to spend more money!

Word of advice, use a good paint stripper on the cover before painting. (this is to get all the yellow varnish off)

                          Just did mines,

This is what my red car has on, but i bought a spare engine for messing around with so i thought i would use a different paint see what results i get.

I'm going to second that. I wasted my time spraying my downpipes and cat with 500 - it was gone in a week. lol

It's sorta holding up on the muffler though, alright...

demlotcrew - that turned out amazing. It looks like it was krinkled! What paint did you use?
