    anything other then loose eccentric?

ok, just messing around in indian trail today (good roads with no pork), wasn't pushing the car "very" hard, just normal.. "sporty" driving, anyway, after i was finish heh, i noticed a loud clicking noise that followed RPMs, well first thing i thought of, ahh dang it, valve is clicking, no biggie,,,, but, i just had the valves ajdusted probly about 2 months ago by bmw mechanic i work with.. isn;t that kinda fast for the valves to be clicking again.... basically, would anything else make a clicking sound that follows rpms besides valves and older injectors?

PS, you thing autozone has a set of feeler gauges(?) (whatever those thin tools are to adjust valves lol)

Engine feel down on power? Could be a snapped rocker.

Eccentircs do not come lose unless they are just plain not tightened.

nah, power is still there, ( i remember what a snapped rocker feels like, this is not that)

it sounds like its either coming from one of the injectors, or the intake valves.... i went along and unplugged the injectors one at a time, and the noise kept on, i guess i'll check it tomorrow..

my BIGEST fear is that my ears are deceiving me, and the sound is coming from the crank...... (aah, bad thoughts,,, bad thoughts)

the tools to measure the valves are feeler gauges? (i know what they look like, just forgot what they are called...) thing i can pick some up at local auto store?

yeah the local parts store should have a set of feeler gauges, its probably just injector noise and nothing to be worried about but obviously its not hard to check valve lash.

this "click" is LOUD, can hear it clearly inside car,, its alot louder then the injectors.. or do injectors get REAL loud...

i'm gonna check it prob tomorrow, after i get some feelers,, next thing is to get some nice mustang injectors,,, maybe they will be quieter then my injectors.. (which make alot f noise too)

omg. driving to doctors today, car was clicking real bad, then all of a sudden, power loss (first though = OH SHIT, NOT ANOTHE ROCKER ARM!!)

goto docs, see him, get out, immediatly take off valve cover (yes in middle of parking lot) only to discover.. (dun dun dun) no broken rocker arms,,,

so i look further.. and my number one cylinder intake valve (rocekr arm) has NO i repeat NO eccentric on it, i look over in other side of head, and there it is, lying there with screw and nut... WTF!!!!

so i dig it out of hyead with an allen wrench, and put it back on, i ajudsted it by ear. tapping another rocker that was on TDC as well... got it right, tightened it down, and turned car on, NIICE and SMOOOTH,,,, my assumtion is,, the dumbass bimmer mechanic (cocky younger guY) who dadjusted them 2 months ago.. neglected to check and see if he tighten them all down, it has been ticking for alst 2 mothns, just not lkoud, i thought it was injectors...

great. I would make them pull the head and check for bent valves because they fucked up.

slim to no chance of a bent valve.. but.. the eccentric, nut, and bolt could easily have gotten wedged in a spring, or under a rocker, or under a cam lobe and trashed the entire motor.

That's pretty bad for a BMW mechanic. Sure he wasn't just a high school shop class kid?

I'd give that head a very good look to see if any damage occured. A loose bolt/eccentric could fry your cam and many other parts. Drain the oil and see if anything is attached to the plug. Maybe the washer that you didn't mention is now a part of your lubricant, along with whatever else it did to your cam or crank.

he r3ved your motor, i'd be pulling that head off and getting it checked out. or at very least changing the oil and looking for metal, then i'd cut the filter apart and look in there even thou there is a slim chance theres any in there, i'd still be lookin

yeh i know, i was very thankful that was not the case.. i sat there in the doctor's office parking lot fixing it (waving at people driving by lol)

but everything is good now, engine sounds GREAT now.. appearently what "i thought" was the injectors clicking, was really the lose ) valve the whole time,

b/c after tightenin it down,, my injectors "mysteriously" stopped clicking...
like i said, seriously glad the nut (which WAS right beside the #1 exhaust valve) didn not get jammed in the spring... yeh,, i would have went postal..

PS.. yeh the washer has disappeared, i figured it went down one of the journals... will it be in the oil pan (maybe?) if the valve is ok, and the cam lobe looked fine, (no scratches) what else could have happened?

I'm still a bit curious as to whether you found the washer or not.

nope, my guess is it disappeared down one of the journals....

the journals go straight to the oil pan (right?) so i should find it in my oil bucket when i drain oil (hopefully)...
