    Steering locking up

Ok so i'm driving along and my steering locks up or tightens considerably turning right at slow speed. Fluid is normal, no leaks from rack or pump. Any suggestions?

    Thanks Barry

If this only happens in right hand turns, I'd suspect a failed seal inside the rack.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Jean it seems to just grab L&R for an instant and then go away. When I idle on the drive way and turn L&R fully there is no grabbing, the pump is original and the rack was changed several years ago.

      Thanks

If it seems to bind at the turn limit in both directions, it could be the pump or a slipping belt.

Does it feel like the P/S is just cutting out or actually locking up? That's common on v8 pumps I know. In the middle of a turn, its like you're driving with a manual box for a moment. And what kind of rack was put in?

It actually pulls and then I force it back, I just changed my brake booster and there is air in the lines, might be that the brakes are hanging up?

The bearings on the steering column are failing. Take off your wheel and hose down the top bearing with JB80, let the JB80 drain down to the bottom bearings. If that dont work you may need a new steering u-joint.

Ok this could be it, I noticed a little grinding and sqwelling while this was going on.

                    Thanks
