    Blower or Resistor Pack

I recently removed all my A/C (compressor, condensor, fan, lines, wiring, etc, etc) from my 1991 318is 5sp. I did not cut any wires. But after a short while, my blower stopped working. Is this issue somehow relates to removal of the A/C system? Is there a way to determine the exact cause of this issue? I am leaning toward the resistor pack but my blower doesn't run at all. I had no previous issues with the blower.

(the heat comes from the vents when the car moving but that is not something I can count of for the upcoming winter)..

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Check fuse 20 I'll bet it's blown. That's the fuse for the blower and a/c controls.

So you're sure that there aren't any exposed wires to short out on the body? It's possible that water got into a connector and shorted it out too.

There are a small thermal swith installed right under resistors. When I was replacing my blower motor I had to file contacts with a fine diamond file and check with ohnmeter. Othervise the new blower didnot work.

Had to do what leone30 suggests, it applies when blower only works on Hi and no other settings.

          Thanks for the replies.

Its not the fuse. All fuses check fine. I guess I am going to order the resistor pack. Is there a way to find out whether its the resistor pack or the blower? The blower does not work at all. Pelican parts state that if the blower is stuck in one speed, it is usually the resistor pack.

On mine, like I mentioned, it would only work on the highest setting. On the pack there is some contacts, like an old school set of points. I had some 400 grit wet/dry sand paper folded once over, sandwiched that in the points and dragged it thru like 3 or 4 times, had all speeds again.
