325i ICV wiring question, need wiring diagram

    Guys,

I'm helping a friend get his M20 (325i) powered 2002 sorted out, and we need some info. The car had been running very poorly, idle fluctating alot and the throttle was not responding at all- today we tested the ICV + ICV wiring as per Bentley, and found that the ICV itself checks out OK, but the center terminal of the ICV connector, which is supposed to be 12v+, has no voltage. The car runs well + even idles fairly well once warmed up if the ICV is unplugged- but runs like crap when it's connected.

Anyone have a wiring schematic for the ICV?? Where is it supposed to get the 12v at the center terminal?? (I assume it is supposed to get it from the ECU, but?????)

    Thanks, Bret.

Not sure exactly what year it's from, pretty sure it's the late ('88-up) harness though...... cause it's got the twist-lock connectors for the O2 sensor wire, but it has the individual connectors for each injectors (not the kind with the plastic housing that holds the connectors).

            Jordan,

don't worry about it- I went back and found this -

online diagram- looks like it's the Mitchell on demand service- but the center wire on the ICV is shown White/Yellow- the one on my buddy's car was brown/orange- which looks like a ground on this diagram! I need to go have a look at another RUNNING 325i to confirm the wiring colors.

I guess this could be Euro-spec wiring- but I can't imagine the colors are different.......

            Anyway- thanks!!

                Sooo,

I checked a couple of 325i's I have sitting around here, and it looks like my friend had the ICV plug + the TPS plug switched!! (he got the engine + harness separately and had to plug everything in once the engine was in the car...)

They are both 3 wire plugs, but the ICV plug has 3 white w/stripe or 2 white w/stripe + 1 red w/stripe wires, but the TPS plug has 3 brown w/stripe wires. He switched the plugs and it starts, idles + runs GREAT!!

How did he manage that? one is like 8 inches longer then the other and reaches.... must been very akward to plug that it.

The harness is designed to pretty much fall into place with common sense..
