dash swap, now car wont start..

    1991 318is

I put a crack free dash in the car over the last couple days.

while i did the dash, i also installed a new Alpine head unit, and replaced some various switches. (so you know what i changed)

i did not unplug the DME, and have verified that the ABS module is plugged in securely.

When i attempt to start the car, there is 1 solid "click" from the starter... the battery is charged, i also attempted to jump the car from another vehicle.

i verified that the DME power connection was secure. other than the DME, and maybe the ABS, wouldn't those be the only 2 things that could prevent the car from starting, besides maybe the ignition switch?

The car ran and started just fine, before i started this dash project....

i tried to google, to see if anyone else had a similar problem as my self, with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Only a click from the starter means that the battery is discharged, that there is a poor connection in the primary power wiring, or that the starter has failed. Since the work you did on the car didn't get into the power wiring in the engine bay, that area isn't much of a suspect.

Check the battery voltage if 12.2v or less the battery is too low to start the car. And make sure that the connections to the batter are clean and tight.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Make sure you didnt knock the back part of the ignition switch that houses the electrical switching parts.(its orange and round, with several wires coming out of it.) It very easy to break the clips holding it on. One or both sides could be broken not allowing it to have contact to the tumbler shaft.

When i did my dash swap i cracked mine pulling the dash out. Replaced it with one from one of my parts cars.
