    Remove engine w/o Tranny, Advice?

    Hey

I have the engine all ready to be pulled out and is only the crane, but the only problem that Im having is it wont completely separate from the tranny. I know the tranny has a long spline so I figured this is the problem. I already have a fingernails gap worth of space between the two.

Any advice on how to completely separate the two?

Are you sure all of the bolts are out? The engine should just slide off the transmission. But it will have to move forward a fair bit and I'm not sure if there will be enough room to demate the two (I've never tried it this way). You may have to drop the transmission to get the engine out.

Personally I always pull the engine and transmission as a unit. You need a load leveler between the hoist and engine, but it is otherwise a piece of cake.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Did you get every bolt out? Double checked?
Is the dust shield thing on the botton of the tranny off? It'll hang up on the huge pen..err..flywheel.

But really its a hell of alot easier to pull engine/tranny as a unit. If pulling the engine is a bitch, whats putting it back in going to be like?

I ended up pulling both the engine and tranny out together, but for some damn reason I cannot separate the two. Im positive that every bolt is taken off.
