    Strange Click on Braking

Hey, so the sound seems to be coming from under the car. I'll start up the car, pull out go down to the end of the road then at the stop sign it'll click imediately as I apply pressure to the brakes. If a coast with the clutch in for a while before trying to stop sometimes that will make it do the click. Everything seems to work fine. I don't know about you but noises that happen when I press the brake don't make me feel all that safe.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

    EDIT: Fixed spelling error...

I'm not really sure, but I have an idea. It might be your brake pads shifting slightly in their carrier when a force is applied to them. Maybe you can jack the car up, step on the brake, and have someone try to rotate the wheel back and forth to try and replicate the sound.

    Just a thought.

A lot of backing plates for aftermarket pads do not really fit the carrier very well. As Ryan said, the pads are sliding back and forth, probably only a very little bit. If that is the cause it's not likely to be anything to worry about.

I remember reading a while ago that it may have to do with loose sway bars?

Does it sound like a "pop" from the chasis? or is it distictly outside? i have a pop when i switch from reverse to drive in my 87. its comming from the rear frame of the car, which leads me to believe its subframe bushings. ive not noticed any problem thats come from it. nor have i had a problem, i just hear a clunk, and life goes on. if its not serious and your not having performance issues, id let it go. outside of safety, it probly wont bother you other than that clunck you hear when initially starrting movement.

              -josh.

these are just personal experiances. i felt like sharing.

Are you sure your caliper bolts aren't loose? Mine were and I was getting clicking when I braked sometimes because the caliper was moving.
