    89 325i bearing?

I spoke to a guy on the phone about a 89 325i. He had mentioned that the car makes a rattling nose shifting from first to second. He said it wasn't the transmission and that he thinks its the clutch bearing. He also mentioned it being a common problem for that year and model, does anyone know anything about this?

A bad throw out bearing would make noise every time the clutch was used, as would a bad pilot bearing. A noise that only occurs of a 1-2 shift sounds more like a problem within the transmission. But there are other possibilities. Get the car inspected by a BMW tech and you'll have a better idea as to what's wrong.

If one of the wear parts in the shifter need to be replaced, it is safe bet to say that they all do. Just get all the parts and rebuild the shifter.
