    Rough Idle

Hello. I just purchased this e30. I am having a rough idle when I start my car. After it starts, it shakes violently two times then idles a little rough. Sometimes its good after, but other times it shakes violently till I gas it. After gassing it sometimes it would be better but sometimes its not. It drives fine with lots of power. Doesn't hesitate or stall when driving. I already replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, cat converter, Oil change, and oil filter. When I bought the car, It had a dead battery and I got it recharged at autozone. After that it drove fine, but just yesterday, the car didnt start till i jump started it. Then it was good again.. What can be the problem?

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Also check your oil filler cap to make sure it seats well and check the o-rings on your dip-stick. I'm sure there a lot of causes for this and other people will chim in too.

look for cracks in anything plastic going to or from the intake manifold. Do a general tuneup, plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. At a minimum take an eraser(don't laugh it works) to the rotor and cap terminals to clean of any oxidation.

Hey cool tip..are we talking a "pen" eraser or "pencil" there is a difference in the compound. I was just using course sand paper until I read this..lol.

I would also check your cold start injector for pre -87 models.
