    Stripped hard line nut

I'm finally getting around to getting the clutch master cylinder fully reinstalled and this is really the only thing I need to do before the car is road worthy.

I'm replacing the hard line that comes out of the back of the clutch master, and connects to the soft line. The nut on the hard line side is completely rounded off, and nothing I have tried so far is working on it. I've tried wrenches (before it was as badly stripped), I've went and bought a Craftsman stripped nut remover set, which didn't do me much good, and I've tried vice grips probably as hard as I could possibly make them, and they end up spinning. The nut has been soaked in PB Blaster on numerous occasions.

The only other thing I can think of doing is possibly cutting the mount off where they connect, and getting a new soft line to go with the hardline, it looks like I would have to take the slave cylinder out to do this, and I'd really rather not.

Any suggestions? I have way too much time into this one nut.

Vice grips can always go tighter. That's definitely your best bet. And seriously the slave takes 3 minutes to remove that should be the least of your problems. Crack the line free before you remove it because it's hard stabilizing it with your hand and cracking the line free.

Yeah just looked into that, hard to swallow $65 for the replacement of that line though. I'll have to get under there with a better pair of vice grips and try to go tighter.

Irwin vice grips or go home, 10WR son. Get em at sears.

That hose is a little more than I expected, more than a slave in fact, but I found it for ya for $30ish from rmeuropean

Eeuroparts.com has it for $49 and maybe they'd price match, and you'd get it next day.

Vice grips didnt work for me on my slave cylinder, most likely due to worn teeth on the vice grips.

What finally did work for me was a very small pipe wrench. Pipe wrenches are made to grip rounded edges and have teeth cut at an angle.

Normally I would consider this, but brake fluid is involved.

I ended up ordering the part from eeuroparts, they had it on hand and it should be here tomorrow, hopefully.
