91 318is guages

alrighty, well my tach stopped working a long time ago, and the fuel millage guage so i figured it was somthing in the cluster, and i just swapped out the old cluster with a new one and the guage still doesn't work. the fuel millage guage was a little scetchy somtimes at high rev's it would start to sort of work and then stop. so im thinking its wiring problems, anyone have any ideas of where to check first or am i gona have to break out the multi meter and start following wires:(

check the relays and the tach/speedo sensors they may be broken.

Maybe u got two boards with dead SI batteries? What car did the replacement cluster from? Dead tach and mpg gauge was dead SI batteries for me in the past.

the other one wasn't dead i got my dad to take them to his company and they put new batteries in for me, and these ones i havn't changed but they came out of jordan's 318is he parted out so im assuming it was working. wheres the speed sensor? or tach sesnor
