    I'm rebuilding my head

I'm going to be rebuilding a spare M20 head that i've had for a while. I've been driving my car a lot harder recently and have read too many post about snapped rocker arms. I'm just trying to find out what I will need to upgrade so I don't have to worry about snapping anything. I want a reliable head that can be redlined 1-4 atleast twice daily. I'm not looking for a HP gain as i'm saving for a 951, just something reliable and fun. I will be attending a couple of auto-x aswell...

you wont snap rocker arms if you dont indulge in prolonged periods of over-reving. The eccentric is a weak spot, only solution is to use tougher rocker arms or switch to roller rockers.
Just a little project im working on

        I dont think any exist.

A bloke on E30tech was building a set of roller rockers for them, but it would be a long time before a set were available for purchase.

The best you could hope for would be someone like korman who sell lightened items. Otherwise you might have to get some pressed.

I don't really know either, but i'm thinking the ends of them have bearings so they don't just rub...

the new rocker arms manufactured are stronger than the original ones in your car. The design was updated with a wider bridge over the eccentric, just just buying the new updated ones serve as an "upgrade", otherwise VAC or someone sells reinforced rocker arms.

Roller rockers greatly reduce friction on the valve train. Instead of having a fixed eccentric for a tip, the have a roller for a tip. These are usually seen on v8s. Ive got a set of crane roller rockers on my 327 chevy. That motor can r3v beyond 7500 rpm along with a few choice mods.

My question would be, how would you adjust the valves? (must be why no one makes them). To adjust rockers on a small block is just as simple as a bmw, but these is no rocker shaft on a small block. So instead of adjusting the eccentric, you adjust the rocker. Cant do that on a bimmer.

back on the topic at hand: Im building a spare head as well. I would look into the korman/bmp valve springs, new rockers/eccentrics. Clean up your ports, polish exhaust. Polish chambers, take valves out and polish them. Buy a stem seal kit (cheap, like 10 bucks) and install the new seals. Maybe a cam, and your set.
                Old and improved:
